About

About

Mumu Labo is a founder-led sole proprietorship for website design, business systems, and original software products.

I plan, build, run, and sell my own products end to end. The focus is the Japanese business practices, regulations, and language that overseas apps tend to overlook, and the goal is tools that take the busywork out of everyday work and stay useful for years. I also take on custom development — apps, internal tools, and workflow automation.

The name “Mumu” comes from elephants passing a heart — the value — trunk to trunk, from parent to child to grandchild. Look closely at the logo and you will see it spelled out: the parent’s legs are the “M”, its trunk the “u”, the calf’s legs the “m”, and its tail the final “u”. Each time the value is handed on, it grows a little larger. That is what I want these tools to do: take something good that has been built up, grow it, and pass it to the next generation. Value, paid forward.

What I care about

01

Receive up close

Like elephants greeting trunk to trunk, I get close first. I start by taking in the real problem behind the request — and the value you have already built up.

02

Grow the value

I don’t hand things back unchanged. I grow them into tools, researched against Japanese business practices, regulations, and language, and built to stay useful for years.

03

Pass it forward

The grown value goes to a user, and spreads from there to others. Feedback from the people using it feeds the next round of development and reaches new users again — value that grows as it is paid forward.

High-payout affiliate partners wanted

Propose a product that would be easy to recommend in your niche — if it looks promising, I build it. Commission accrues for as long as each referred user stays on a paid plan. The partnership is direct, with no intermediary network taking a cut.

Founder

Mai Sato, the founder, has about ten years in engineering — from electrical design to software, more than five of them in hands-on software development — and works end to end across front end, back end, and infrastructure. On a trust bank’s business reporting platform she handled everything from detailed design to dozens of APIs and tests and the client-facing role, delivering a nine-month project in about five months and cutting page transitions from around 20 seconds to under one. She has built an e-commerce site and a range of APIs, so she knows the ins and outs of online retail. Earlier, in electrical design for nuclear power plant projects, she read English technical documents and turned them into design work — the kind of precision demanded where safety is on the line. Originally a translation major, with experience in transcription, subtitling, and translation QA, and a native Japanese speaker, she picks up the real problem behind each request and stays involved throughout: planning and proposals, requirements and scope, design and development, API design and implementation, testing, launch, and ongoing operation and improvement. Turning “I don’t know who to ask” into “this is someone I can trust.”
